There is a shit-load of California congresspersons poised to take leadership roles on 03 Jan.

The orange one is going to rue the day that so many Californians are attacking him in unison from every direction.

Yeah, she dislikes Trump intensely, but the real important thing here is what she says in the statement: "As Chairwoman, I will continue to prioritize protecting consumers and investors from abusive financial practices, making sure there are strong safeguards in place to prevent another financial crisis, expanding and supporting affordable housing opportunities, tackling the homelessness crisis, encouraging responsible innovation in financial technology, promoting diversity and inclusion in the financial services sector, conducting appropriate oversight and ensuring that hardworking Americans and small businesses have fair access to the financial system and opportunities to thrive."

See, the thing is with Waters, is that I really trust her to DO that. With her, I think this is far more than just rhetoric.

In fact, I'm seeing so many really, really great things from the newly elected female senators as well. Like the Senator who is donating her pay to charity until the Trump government shutdown ends. And Occasio-Cortez - I like her more every time she speaks up. We've got a great group going in, and some really excellent female leaders of long standing, like Waters and Pelosi, to set them examples.

These women give us some real hope!

anything. He's trapped in his own little narcissistic world, isolated, unable to connect with other people, feel empathy or compassion, or even appreciate and feel joy for the success of someone else.

I think the good thing about Trump is this. He has shown us how not to be, and definitely made millions of Americans really think about what they want from their government. I sincerely hope that the engagement in democracy we've seen from our population will continue from now into the next decade and beyond. We will be the better for it, and the world will as well.

In fact, if I were to be given a Christmas wish, as in the old song, 'All I want for Christmas...' I believe I would wish our species to enter adulthood, realize and embrace our interdependence with one another, and our dependence on the sacred Earth. We need to begin organizing ourselves as healthy families organize themselves - none of this perverted Ayn Randian 'pull yourself up by the bootstraps' 'only the fittest survive' bullshit.

There is one world soul and we are all part of it, along with all other life, and the rocks and stones of the Earth itself.

Oh oh. Gosh, I went clear off into metaphysics...sorry!

Happy Holidays!

I could go into the psychology of overcrowding (even virtual overcrowding) and our susceptibility to fear mongering too. It’s a vicious circle and we need to escape it.

her committee's actions. We're the Democrats. We believe in good government.

Maxine has become head of the financial services committee for reasons Trump and trumpsters are completely unaware of -- and most Democrats, who only know her from her "angry" comments.

“Representative Waters .. comments serve as an unmistakable signal that moving even the narrowest financial regulatory measures in the next Congress will be nearly impossible," said Isaac Boltansky, financial policy analyst at Compass Point. “All indications are that the House Financial Services Committee could prove to be one of the central fronts in the messaging war ahead of the 2020 election."

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren: My friend Maxine Waters – the leader of the House Committee on Financial Services Democrats – has led the fight to protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from the big banks and their buddies in Congress. There’s nobody I’d rather go into battle with than Maxine.

Anti-corruption. Restore democracy. Government of, by and for the people.

While Republicans still control the senate, her committee will be unable to move to put the regulatory leash back on business, but Republicans will also be unable to continue deregulation and this powerful house committee will be investigating institutionalized corruption of our financial systems and also the huge issues of terrorism and criminal finance -- which Trump and the Republicans fear. We can count on that.
