(488 posts)Ive lit magnesium strips before and i can see the deep intensity of the fire. Got suspended in HS for doing that.

(7,725 posts)Kind of jumps up and down, like a welder arc, sorta. Very very intense light. Blue. I've seen them in car accidents especially, but, on a smaller scale.

(4,608 posts)shimmering, blue-lit sky were very much in evidence here as I looked out of my windows. I'm on the Hudson so pretty far away so it must have been some hell of an explosion. I thought maybe it was fireworks.
