So what? It will all start up again, unchanged, when the courts open up. The Velveteen Ocelot Dec 2018 #5

Can you be more specific?

The NY state AG is pursuing a state action, but I’m unaware of any civil action brought by the US attorneys office in that district against the Trump Organization.

Likewise, there is an investor suit for fraud against the Trump Org, but that is likewise unaffected by this.

None of those are civil proceedings being prosecuted by the US attorneys office of the SDNY against the Trump Organization.

This order does not suspend all civil proceedings against Trump in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. It only applies to civil proceedings in that district in which the US is the plaintiff.

This order does not apply to (a) criminal proceedings, (b) civil proceedings in which other parties are the plaintiffs.

This temporary stay of all civil cases is of no special advantage to anyone, including Trump, and it is certainly not the reason Trump is holding out. He wants his wall but he painted himself into a corner by playing chicken with Chuck 'n' Nancy. They called his bluff and now he's stuck, but he can't stand to seem to lose. He's the four-year-old threatening to hold his breath until he turns blue, but every parent knows the kid will have to breathe, and sooner rather than later. But it's nothing to do with this stay. Civil cases take forever anyhow, and a few days or even a few weeks won't make a shred of difference.

The Mueller investigation is not shut down, though.
