Thought it was kinda telling that she was the moderator and the men were just the responders....and did anyone see the little tiff of Lawrence and Big Ed??? Yikes.... not quite fist to cuffs but pretty terse. Wish there was a video of it. I felt pretty uncomfortable.

(29,672 posts)jobs, and such, and Lawrence was saying that the jobs he was talking about weren't going to be in the US but in other countries....or something like that. I thought all the men looked pretty upset being there all together....no love lost by any means. I thought Rachel did a great job, but I'm sure the men were a little pissed that she was the "head" so to speak.

(42,770 posts)has grating speech patterns to me - and is hard to listen to because she over verbalizes EVERYTHING she talks
about. I find myself zoning out waiting for her main point.
Suppose I am probably alone on this....do love her...just wish she would take some speech/broadcasting advise.

(18,795 posts)I am amazed - I have never found a problem with her speech patterns. Ever. I guess different strokes for different folks.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)her point across. I notice, on a panel, by the time she finishes, people look at her agape and if I read
their mind, they are saying "what the hell did she just say."
It is funny how some voices irritate. Like Ron Paul's nasally wining gets to me. Although in the last couple days he sounds so different. Maybe he's worn out.

(42,770 posts)at one point she acted like she had something really important to say and she spoke and the whole panel of guys just for a moment sat there - obviously not a one understanding. Who knows, maybe all of them plus me, are operating on a lower intellectual level - or- she's trying too hard

(14,040 posts)Kinda like Brokaw was for NBC for years. Was he the dad keeping the boys in line?

(31,706 posts)Rachel is the best in handling the many things that go into election coverage. Her radio background serves her real well here...moving from one reporter to another to one guest to another and keeping all the people at the table in the mix. I was very impressed how she handled this.
She's in that role cause she's become the face of the network...the one with the highest ratings and the best reputation among all in the network. I found her rapport with the "old timers" like Brokaw and even Tweety as less strained than when KO was handling this role. While she was able to meander in and out of a lot of different locations, she did bore the Iowa Sec. of State a fourteenth asshole about that state's new restrictive voting laws...and did it with a smile.
Ed doesn't play well with others...and you could see him doing the slow burn all evening long. Methinks he's used to having the spotlight to himself...

(70,706 posts)This would be the first time Tweety would pass up a chance to run his mouth. There were ten seconds of silence, and Rachel said with a sort of slighted tone, "Mr MATTHEWS... ?!" He said, "Oh, I didn't hear you..."
He calls his wife, "Kathleen, my queen." But this is the syndrome of putting-woman-on-pedestal-while-denying-rights common to the Catholic empire. So he and the despicable BARNICLE pretended to host Kathleen one time, but giggled like boys in Catholic school whenever she talked.
Here's his dirty old man thing about Britney SPEARS from long ago:
Then M-TV held its 20th or 25th or whatever anniversary, and all the cable echo chambers were doing segments of Britney shedding her duds down to almost nothing. Not to be left behind, Tweety followed suit, with a guest "culture" commentator from Time Mag, the young humor columnist, Joel STEIN. The staff kept re-running the Britney clip, and Tweety was clearly DROOLING disgustingly. STEIN said, "You're beginning to creep me out." Tweety responded, "Yeah, well, wait till YOU're 50." This led to the suggestion that "Tweety" be modified to "Tweezer" to retain the hair reference while canceling out the affection factor and also adding the (dirty old) "geezer" angle.

(42,770 posts)I have watched him for years and years faithfully. Sure, he's pissed me off a couple times. He's
not perfect - maybe that is why I have always liked him. He doesn't hold back which gets him into
trouble but also gives him an amazingly authentic personality. Maybe I just love flawed history buffs.

I saw the tiff, and to be quite honest -- Ed pissed me off last night.

(29,672 posts)"Schultzs point, I believe, wasnt about the merits of Santorums plan, but about the appeal of manufacturing rhetoric, while ODonnell was having a different conversation entirely. The plan calls for tax-free repatriation of profits, as long as the funds are used to purchase manufacturing equipment. Santorum says this will spur manufacturing, but critics say its just a giveaway to corporations that will be used for purchases they were going to make anyway.
Eds assessment of Santorums retail skills is dead-on, and hes right about how Santorums plan will play with voters, but it is also necessary to go over the substance of the issue. Id have been interested to see if Schultz would have done that, had ODonnell given him the chance. Its also worth considering whether ODonnell jumped all over Schultz out of anti-Santorum zeal, or because of some sour-grapey unresolved resentment over Schultzs takeover of ODonnells 8pm time slot. Maybe it was a bit of each."
