What are Trump supporters so angry about?

I don't get it. I honestly don't get it. They are the unhappiest people on the planet. They won! They have the presidency, the Senate and SCOTUS. Yet they are constantly unhappy and anxious.

Go to a Trump rally, pick any one at random. You will see tons of them with Trump signs, shirts and hats spewing the most insane, violent and hateful things possible. They wave their middle fingers and shout about how CNN sucks.

But for what? Hate gets you nowhere and we're learning that quickly, and they know it, and it's pissing them off.

But why? Why are they so angry? Who hurt them? That is a question for the ages.

The worship of the power that money brings and the belief that god hisself loves the rich more is an an anathema to me. Trump is the glowing example of the worship of money. The epitome of soulless greed willing to do the basest deeds to acquire that false godhood.

Racist and stupid perhaps, but in this respect not entirely mistaken...the demographics of this country's population are inexorably trending toward non-white, and culturally speaking, the white/Christian hegemony is already in retreat--and I think "Trumpism" is to some extent a reaction to that. These people see things like the Voting Rights Act, and for some of the older ones, even just "the mixing of the races" such as exists subsequent to Brown v. Board of Ed. as paving stones on the road to Hell. I think what we're seeing now is their last, desperate gambit to hold onto power...it won't succeed for very long.

They need to get to the gym or take up jogging bc just bc they hate, doesnt mean theyre entitled to it, or whatever stems from that ill gotten emotion. Guess what? Get over it. Or "Deal w it." Like they love to say to us..
Reminds me of when i was a kid and my Mom said, don't watch scary movies, but I did anyway. I got scared bc of my own choice and knew better than to do it. But I did anyway. And I still remember one of the movies to this day. Point is, once you create an issue w yourself bc of the mental diet you are feeding your own head. Then the problem is yours to own and deal with. They dont want to own what they've done. They've fomented unrational fear to sell advertising, and folks sat around and consumed that hate and now are just 'loose cannon angry'. They reinforce it somehow with religion to justify to themselves that it's ok to hate bc...jesus.
Not our problem. Believe me. We are twice as angry, we just aren't low brow enough to let it control our lives. We seem to channel it to good. They channel bad to more bad. Bc it's easy. The right has issues, and we're all paying for it.

15. They are filled with hatred and envy
Sun Dec 30, 2018, 02:18 AM
Dec 2018

Hatred is poison and so is envy. Both are long-time bad mental habits. Trumpsters are completely unaware that they nurture hatred in their minds and then project it out onto people and conditions. They tell themselves that those "others," out there, are the causes of their unhappiness. From a Buddhist perspective, their own minds are the causes of their own unhappiness.

We have this concept in Buddhism of mirror-like wisdom. No matter what appearance comes before a mirror, the mirror never gets angry or upset. That's because the mirror itself is empty of any real self-existent reality. Just so the true nature of mind is open and clear. But Trumpsters confuse what they see and feel as reality, when what they actually see is their own subjective ego mind. This is not an easy thing to understand. It took me many years to understand that it's not about the content of what happens to me, pleasant or unpleasant, but about what I tell myself about what happens to me. Trumpsters don't meditate and look at the thoughts passing through their minds.

Trumpsters would be a lot happier if they practiced a little loving kindness towards others, but they are mentally stuck in "me first." So my answer to "why are they angry?" is because they are stuck in self-cherishing and constantly nurture anger and resentment. Ya know, they could simply think different thoughts, thoughts of loving kindness and graciousness. But they don't.

If you tried to tell them what I just wrote above, they would get angry and refuse to even think about it. Our lives don't ever get better until we accept that our own mental attitudes have something to do with whether we are happy or not.

False fears and resentments of everything under the sun that's not just like them inside their bubble. These folks do not inventory and face their fears and resentments and then dispel those that are false, but instead cling to them and wear them with pride! That's because no one in their authoritarian structure stands up to them and demands that they change when they're dead wrong.

In fact, their authoritarian structure is isolated, self-sustaining, and happily maintained by a large group of very wealthy radical right-wingers. The basic elements of the structure consist primarily of others of their kind, preachers, politicians and media characters. They will listen to no others.

All of the wage increases since the recession (which, particularly in the past few years, have been substantial, largely thanks to state minimum wage increases) have been concentrated among the actually poor, who are predominantly non-white.

People forget that when you look at the polling data, the poorer a white voter was the less likely he or she was to vote for Trump. His strongest support was from white voters making about $70K-$100K (the median income of a two-earner white family both with high school diplomas is $72K). These are the people who see "others" making gains and starting to catch up with them, while they're making pretty much what they made before the recession.

As with nearly every revolution in the past, the foot soldiers here are the people with something to lose who fear encroachment from below.

I think that is the root. People unlike them (people unlike them being beneath them) are allowed to thrive. Non-whites, foreigners, LGBTQI people, and non-Christians actually have legal rights and can thrive. Their authoritative, bigoted minds tell them they are superior and belong at the pinnacle of the social pyramid. Reality is, they have to compete for resources and social standing. They don't like this, they think it is their by-god birthright due to their white skin. Now, add 1500 hate radio stations, a television propaganda network, and a passel of internet resources that tell them just that, and there you are.

They're addicted to anger and hatred and they're looking for any excuse to use it, and they elected a president who is as angry as they are.

I'm betting if we polled all DUers asking if they've read and understood the Constitution there would be a clear majority that have done so and support its contents. If you did the same poll but for the magats I believe the number would be very low. If they really knew what is in the Constitution they would hate it. They may technically be Americans but they don't know anything about what America is about.

Except even some of the policies that this wretched administration is cooking up are too extreme even for them!

They'll stop the train by sabotage if necessary. That's more or less what Trump is: a stink bomb. He's also a cry for help.

Not sure what we do about it apart from simply voting our numbers and smacking Trumpism hard across the snout. If we do that, we'd better have some inspiring ideas about what we want the world to be like.

A lot of them admitted that they voted for Trump based on how much they thought he'd piss off Democrats, minorities, or whatever other group they have a bizarre, unexplainable hatred for, not because they'd actually thought he'd be a good president. They're petty, bitter, unhappy people
