But here it is, and as expected, breathtakingly stupid, so stupid that the wrong year is a minor mistake in contrast:

(92,303 posts)could use it as a pretext to enter the war.
That conspiracy was bullshit also
I guess it must be a variant of some segment of people who are always too willing to believe something regardless of proof or evidence to the contrary

(2,331 posts)The crux of the theory is FDR wanted to get involved in WW2 but didn't have the political capital to enter the war.
It is horse shit since we probably wouldn't have let our entire fleet to be sunk.

(22,039 posts)FDR wanted the attack on the Pacific Fleet because the ships were antiquated and the Navy needed a modern fighting force. By allowing the Pearl Harbor attacks to destroy much of the Fleet, FDR had the act of war he needed to convince the Congress to enter the Pacific war. Then the Navy could build modern ships for the fight.
At least that's what some dolt told me.

(6,081 posts)The Japanese pilots swam, towing the planes through the water with ropes held in their teeth.
LakeSuperiorView
(1,533 posts)The ropes were attached to their Mawashi, the belts they wear. If you tried to hold a rope in your teeth, you would take in too much salt water.

(53,801 posts)which may have meant an attack was coming but that mercator map theory of planes having to fly that far is ridiculous.

(53,801 posts)I said in my earlier post that the OP was obviously from the flat-earther/mercator-projection group. They're apparently new to DU.
Oh, FYI. Here's something that should interest you:

(8,311 posts)... or I doubt they'd be comparing Trump to a dodgy date when talking about the wall funding:
"Yeah, so here's the thing... I know I said I was taking you to dinner... and that Mexico would pay for it. But could you, just, like pay for dinner now? And then I'll get Mexico to pay for it ... later?" with a guy holding the dinner tab is their most recent post.
I think the group this was posted to, and the person who deliberately put in the wrong year in the caption for his dumb-beyond-words interpretation of a map and mocking of conspiracy nuts there, is on the side of the good guys.
Edit to add: unfortunately, as they say about the definition of good trolling, some satire (because of the people who are that stupid that exist) is sometimes hard to distinguish from genuine kookiness.

(38 posts)This is an obvious truth to the flat-earthers, as all the maps make it obvious you cannot go east from Japan to Hawaii without falling off the edge.

(47,547 posts)as a child, but not quite as far-fetched as this. More like FDR knew about the coming attack on Pearl Harbor before hand and did nothing to intervene because he wanted the U.S. to get involved in World War II. I think it may have been a relatively common belief among republicans at the time, but I was a child and really had no idea.
