Louis ck: "my life is over." But his illness lives on

He said in his latest leaked standup that his life is over so he doesn’t care who he offends. He ridiculed Asians, trans people, parkland survivors, to name a few. But his life is only over because he purposely chose that route. But after reflection, I don’t find that surprising about him. He’s one of these people that gets a thrill out of shocking people, taking them to weird mental places, like a flasher in the park.

It’s obvious he has rejected society and wants to say and do what he wants without concern for what anyone thinks about it. His ego probably tells him he knows better than this hypocritical society. I’m sure in his mind he’s taking part in some personal social experiment and getting a thrill, but really he’s just a shock junkie narcissist who doesn’t really care about anyone in any significant way other than himself. He just couldn’t bring himself to make any kind of amends with the people whose careers he tried (some successfully) to destroy after sexually harassing them. In his mind (and some fans’ and fellow comedians’ minds) he lost some lucrative deals and that’s payment enough. Keeping millions and living in luxury for 8 months or so and yeah my debt is paid. He’s an example of the worst in human instincts: if I don’t have to do the right thing, I won’t.

He’ll have his followers the way trump has his horrible core racist following. There’s always an audience for revolting things. There are gore sites where weirdos get thrills looking at dead bodies and torture. There’s an audience for everything.

But he’s decided I guess that he’d rather reduce himself to obscurity and niche followers rather than do the right thing.

I used to like the guy. I even paid to see him on tour. That’s over.

Maybe he was trying out new material or just thought it was something that wouldn't get out. I don't know. He may go the Dennis Miller route - there's money there.

All he had to do was make some kind of real amends to the women he harassed and tried to destroy, and do some kind of interview where he reassured people that he understands what he did is wrong and just show some kind of humanity. Instead he’s going the shock route, which is not surprising since that’s his thing.

Yeah the Dennis Miller thing is a good point. Guess he’s chosen that world.

He's figured out-- his future is in making fun of the young, the powerless, the minorities.

He could make fun of, you know, Trump. But there's no money in that. He wants to cash in on the whole white-male-victimization circuit.

Rushie, Laura, Hannity, and of course tiny hands, their careers are made by doing it. I prefer those that skewer the ruling class.

He was some genius and I didn’t get it. Comedians loved him.

That’s why I don’t fit into today’s entertainment world. A Rotten Tomatoes pan of a picture does not mean it is bad. That only means that most of them didn’t like it.

It isn’t like having a Roger Ebert there who was ahead of most of us, knowing why it was good.

I know what I like and I never liked LCK.

I've seen his performances and specials - they were good (I'm quite a fan of standup) but I didn't see anything that was THAT worthy of the praise he was getting. I watched the specials again to see if I was missing something in the writing. Good but not game changing.

He had a show on HBO years ago. It was almost a Honeymooners copy - at least from the set - very docile. I thought. My daughter was really young but we had it on. Really not well thought out but hell that happens to a lot of comics making the movie to 22 minutes of material. Then his buddy in the show drops trow or walks out of the bathroom - full frontal male. As my wife turned our girls head away I'm falling over the ottoman to turn off the TV. She didn't see it but seriously? No reason. We started watching a lot of Cooking Channel After that.

His Louie series visited some issues we don't really talk about.

"So Did the Fat Lady"

Was about the issues of overweight women and dating.

The woman in question was way....WAY more attractive than CK and not as overweight btw.

But it was an episode with many insights.

That's his for real and actual problem.

The life he had is over, yeah. Not coming back.

But if he deals with that for real and actual problem, he'll have a better life than the one he's staring at right now.
