I can't believe the government suggested renters who can't pay their rent because the government is shut down and they aren't getting paid to offer to do work for their landlords in lieu of payment. SMH
It made me think of a scene in The Grifters where Annette Benning's character offers the landlord sexual favors in lieu of payment.

(3,077 posts)This shit show administration is full of the most idiotic people so of course the most idiotic suggestions would come from them. They are completely out of touch with people that are working for a living. They are totally clueless and indifferent to people's struggles. They don't care.

Capitalism has reached it's climax and it's really fucking ugly, perhaps we should kill it.

(33,643 posts)and socialism/communism do not work, in actual practice.
And that is ... life on this planet has been forged and created, essentially, by the very basic concept of 'competition'.
Yes, there are numerous examples of 'cooperation' within species (or even between species in symbiotic relationships), and of course 'cooperation' confers advantages as well, but this is a MUCH newer evolutionary development.
Fact is, we as people have a genetic heritage of 4,000,000,000 years of ancestors ... that were competitors. Any species that doesn't compete ... dies. Our species wouldn't be here if a single ancestor of ours were not effective competitors. Our 'line' would've died out.
Competing is a much more basic instinct, in all life forms, and as humans I'd bet any amount that we will eventually compete our way to extinction, rather than cooperate our way to NOT going extinct.
Capitalism is not going away, because competition is a more instinctual aspect of our nature ... than cooperation is.
