That happened to me and it is all I heard everyone tell me...it is good advice!

Also, make sure your red blood cell count stays normal since sometimes the white ones eat them up by mistake causing severe anemia. I had to get several transfusions of packed red blood cells after 1/3 of my red blood cells "disappeared" internally.

Check with your doctor about taking Elecampane, 30 drops 3x a day. It clears the lungs quickly, and by quick, I mean POW! There is a product called Lung Tonic which is in liquid gel form too, which has it too. It is used overseas to fight anthrax and I used to be taking Z-Pak 10 doses 3x a year for bouts of chronic bronchitis. If I catch it quickly, I'm clear in a day or two. If I wait until it fully roots itself, it might take 5 days, all without taking antibiotics. For those severe times, when I slack off taking it early, I need elecampane, a Vicks menthol inhaler 2x a day, DM Max, and Guaifenesin--no antibiotics. I was worried about developing antibiotic resistance using the Z-Paks. I haven't been to a doctor for a flair-up in eight years now. Several others I know who have the same issue as me also clear. I only take it when I feel the onset come on. When my kids get chest colds, they take it and are back to school a day later. I does not seem reactive to prescription antibiotics or other OTC cough products. Ask your doctor.
