No tax refund for you until shutdown is over

During a shutdown, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) only retains about 12.5% of its workforce, or 9,946 of its nearly 80,000 employees, according to its contingency plan.

“Probably no surprise, they are still capable of taking your money, and they are still capable of processing returns that are being submitted," Scott Moffit, president of Summit Financial Group told WCPO.

The IRS will not, however, process refunds. They also won’t respond to questions from taxpayers. That may be concerning, considering massive changes were made to the tax system for the 2018 tax year.

1. Honestly, I don't want a savings account with 0 interest.

I have always figured my withholding to as close to 0 due and 0 refund as possible. I don't use the government as my savings account it isn't wise.

I agree that it hurts working people, but I wish they would use regular savings accounts as opposed to getting a huge refund. It lets the government use your money, I'm not into that.

for decades, to no avail. Some people apparently can't trust themselves to save money on their own.

depend on that refund check for things like school tuition, child care, all sorts of things. If Republicans can't get POtuS to relent or override his veto by the end of January, they're going to have millions of pissed off people.

And that's not taking into account the tax scam bill that will reduce most people's refunds. Most of the calls to the IRS are tax preparers confused about the new rules. This will have a cascading effect and that thing infesting the White House couldn't care less.

I do not agree with using the government as a zero interest saving account.
