800K people all have to eat, use transportation, maintain housing, and spend within their communities. It is a cumulative effect that has in the past cost million to local communities, which then is transferred to billions of dollars of loss other economic sectors.

The 21 day shutdown of 2013 (granted, was much larger in scope, by affecting significantly more people) affected the economy in general for nearly two years, even though people did get their back pay a month later.

It's similar to a large scale sudden unemployment.

Being a contractor and subject to frequent and sudden unexpected unemployment for short periods, I've found over the years that even though people will eventually get (or make) their money back, too many are living paycheck to paycheck; every week without pay (or without the minimum pay to pay bills) will create a hardship for a subsequent 2 months; 2 weeks takes 4 months to recover from, 3 weeks takes six, and so on.

So far there is nothing he won’t do to get his way. Now his base should learn that too.

Their brains are unable to absorb that information.

Every single one of his base could watch him piss in their beer, and every single one would believe him when he told them it was the Democrats fault that their beer was warm and tasted funny.

What happened to "We don't negotiate with terrorists!" He's a terrorist, holding American paychecks hostage (among other things).
