CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — A sheriff’s office in central Arkansas has fired a deputy who was captured on video shooting and wounding a small dog while on duty.

Faulkner County Sheriff Tim Ryals said on the office’s Facebook page Saturday that Deputy Keenan Wallace was “relieved of his duties” one day after the incident in Conway, about 25 miles north of Little Rock.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports Wallace was responding to a call Friday evening when the dog, named Reese’s, was shot in the face. An earlier statement from the sheriff’s office said the dog was aggressive.

Doug Canady, who recorded the shooting, tells the newspaper he took Reese’s to a veterinarian and that the dog has a broken jaw.

Ryals says prosecutors are reviewing the case.

I have a long haired, six pound holy terror, that I adore. She's a little hellion. Her buddy is in a state of perpetual happy. They couldn't be more different.

She's was born with several birth defects, as the result of a designer dog breeders experiment gone wrong. The woman I got her from said she was going "in the dumpster" if someone didn't take her. I came home with her and another little one.

Then I promptly reported the breeder. She was later shut down and charged.

I'd be permanently broken if something was to happen to her or her buddy.

I'd be there for you with bail money, in a heartbeat, pecosbob. ♡

here a few examples of what Vick & friends did.

The men tested the dogs in fights, then shot, electrocuted, or hung dogs who did not perform well.

In or about April 2007, PEACE, PHILLIPS, and VICK executed approximately 8 dogs that did not perform well in ‘testing’ sessions … by various methods, including hanging, drowning, and slamming at least one dog’s body to the ground.”

the men hung approximately three dogs “by placing a nylon cord over a 2 X 4 that was nailed to two trees located next to the big shed. They also drowned approximately three dogs by putting the dogs’ heads in a five gallon bucket of water.” They killed one dog by “slamming it to the ground several times before it died, breaking the dog’s back or neck.”

According to a witness, the men fought their trained pit bulls with pet dogs, and they “thought it was funny to watch the pit bull dogs belonging to Bad Newz Kennels injure or kill the other dogs.”

Animal training and breeding equipment, including a “rape stand”, a device in which a female dog who is too aggressive to submit to males for breeding is strapped down with her head in a restraint

performance-enhancing drugs commonly used to increase the fighting potential in dogs, as well as to keep injured dogs fighting longer.
