Expecting a tax refund this year? Better hope the government shutdown ends soon

This begs the question - could taxpayers withhold their returns until the Gov't re-opens? Mass civil disobedience?

https://www.star-telegram.com/news/state/texas/article223921365.html

Is the government shutdown impacting you?

Maybe not right now. But if it drags on, taxpayers across the country likely will feel the impact — if income tax refunds are delayed.

“The impact all depends on how long (the shutdown) goes on,” said Mike Sides, a CPA and managing partner of the Sides & Teague accounting firm in Fort Worth. “If this drags on past mid-January, there is a chance that refunds could be delayed.”

Until people "feel" the shutdown, there's no real motivation for either side to give in. But when those checks dont start going out in early Feb, there's gonna be ALOT of pissed off people. Who thats better for we'll see. Right now it looks like for the Dems, but with the Presidential bully pulpit and Trump's ability to muddy the waters w/ BS who knows. But like i said, this is what will start the move to end the shutdown.

They planned on using their refund for a large down payment to get a good car.

We'll break even like we always do so this doesn't impact us.

But the husband is a truck driver and we're both vets. Plus we're house shopping. We plan on using our VA benefits to get a house. If it drags on, that could be impacted.

I think tRump wants to burn down the country and this is how to do it.

Of course, I was angry before I realized it was going to affect me, but this is just one more thing that pisses me off.

by the amount that you project for the refund. Will get you your money and put pressure on the government.

I am surprised commentators aren't recommending it.
