In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Rep. Lieu said he believes the House would hit Trump with a lawsuit and force the president to make the case for his phony emergency to the Supreme Court.
“If he wants to reopen government, and then declare a national emergency, and then we have the courts battle it out, that’s something I can live,” Lieu said, confident that the courts would strike down any attempt by Trump to declare a national emergency for political purposes.
“You can’t just make up a national emergency and do something you couldn’t do normally,” he added.
