Make no mistake, we have a real leader in Nancy Pelosi

She stood there and told him, once again, "No".

No maybes, no olive branches, no inducements. Just a firm NO to his wall.

She said we could get back to negotiating after the government reopens.

There was no waffling. No ambiguity.

Ramrod straight standing her(our) ground.

That picture of her coming out of the White House and putting her shades on should be made into a "movie-like" poster! I saw a pic with it the other day with what would be an explosion in the background - like she was an agent that had just blown up the bad guys (which, come to think of it, she had!).

All those "life-long Democrats" who were "happy" that the Democrats had re-taken control of the House, but didn't want Pelosi to be the Speaker again. The media certainly had no difficulty putting those people's views on the air and in print.

of those government workers to really kick shit and call their Senators up about this asshole. This shutdown has to end, tRump is revengeful and vindictive to get what he wants, it won't work and people are getting hurt.

He has no fucking empathy for anyone or anything. He said he doesn't want to look foolish but he always does.

Sorry if I am off topic.

Speaker Pelosi sees what an ass he is.

position politically...i.e. more people blame Trump and GOP congress for shutdown than they blame Dems.

But, there may be a point where we have to weigh the damage and hurt and pain of those affected by not working and the country unsafe because of it (i.e. air traffic control) against the certitude that Trump will gloat if he gets his $$ for PART of the wall.

There very well may be a point where we are doing more good and would look better (political side) if we just said - fuck it - here's your money - we care more about the 800k unemployed and the safety of our country???

Want him to hold us ransom again? Why would you be so rude?

Just thinking outside the box...and wondering if there will be a point when the fear of trump gloating will be outweighed by stopping the harm. And how close are we to that? (Assuming trump doesn't cave). IOW. When does doing something good outweigh giving him a pittance?

He wants all of Fort Knox, not just a gold brick or two.

Call me cynical after Cheneyburton, but I’m guessing there’s a few points to be shaved off the top going right into his, Mitchie’s and Putin’s pockets, always was. This could be why he’s so adamant. SOME debts he has no choice about paying.

I’d say his complete and utter disinterest in the plight of the millions of Americans about to suffer is a rather strong indication that his priorities lie elsewhere.

budgets before he's in jail or back in TT. Perhaps he doesn't realize he's never gonna get enough to build a thousand miles.

I agree this is only about his ego. If you watch the 4 part documentary on Netflix about trump. He is obsessed with building big shiny things with his name on it.

I thought it was a very good point - cave now and we'll never have the chance to stand firm again. There was nothing "rude" about that.

"Assuming trump doesn't cave?"

Then congress would have the chance to open government again by over-riding a veto - which would be an opportunity to show compromise and do something good. Hope you don't think that is rude.......

Trying to weigh pros and cons. And you are right that the downside is that if we give in he will try it again. Wish there was a way to reopen government and make him look more idiotic than he is.

Oh shit, he's doing his "helicopter" news conference. This is by design. He knows full well that the public can't hear the questions. What a scam

First, her daughter said, "She'll cut your head off and you won't even realize your bleeding."

Second, "She raised five kids. She knows how to say NO!"

These may be slight paraphrases but they capture her mettle perfectly.

Congressional Democrats made a very good choice for Speaker at this time and with this president.
