That's quite a statement!

Everyone has had the experience of going to a doctor's office, the doctor at first site tells you what he/she thinks you have, then after all the tests come back, the doctor is proven right. How did he/she do that? Because the doctor has seen the symptoms before. The same happens in politics, all dictator-wanna-be demagogues say the same things, no matter what time in history, the methods are the same, the symptoms are the same, and for those who do not like to pay attention the awakening is very hard because once they open their eyes, the monster, the illness is on top of them and there is nothing they can do about it. As with illnesses, political situations like the one the USA is facing, if not treated on time the cure becomes almost impossible, trump and the current republicans are the illness that has fallen on the USA, and if people do not wake up now things will get really bad, the virus will spread and the cure will become almost impossible unless a lot of bloodshed happens.
The next few months will be a test to the military, we will find out where their loyalty lies, we will find out how many of them have been corrupted because that is what dictator-wanna-be demagogues always do, they corrupt other politicians, they corrupt the military while they go along destroying everything that holds a country together. IT CAN HAPPEN HERE, as it has happened in many places in the World, there is no immunity on the USA, there is no immunity anywhere, when the people allow it to happen, it will happen. It happened in Germany during Hitler, it happened in Russia, it happened in Venezuela, it will happen in Mexico, and if people do not wake up now, it will happen in the USA.
Some friends from Venezuela told me about something that happened to them when Hugo Chavez was campaigning for the presidency of Venezuela. They were at the beach, they met a couple from Cuba, this couple had migrated to Venezuela many years ago and were getting ready to migrate to the USA. They warned my friends of what was coming to Venezuela, they listed all the steps they saw coming if Hugo Chavez became elected, and at that time it seemed he would be, and he was. My friends laughed at what the Cubans were telling them, and like many Venezuelans did at the time, they said "It can't happen here", not in Venezuela. They could not see the symptoms, but the Cubans who had lived through it could, they were right and it did happen in Venezuela.
People must listen to those who have already lived through the taking of a country by demagogues who always ally themselves with foreign countries, Hugo Chavez and Cuba, trump and Russia, etc. It CAN happen here in the USA, be sure of that, start taking action. Martina Navratilova has seen it and lived it, she escaped Czechoslovakia to be free, she knows the symptoms and we will be well served to listen to her.

Interesting, people, including me, have been saying this for 2 years. And yet, still tens of millions still do not see it.

When I was in my twenties I read a lot of history books and among them were various books about the Holocaust. Knowing and being around racists gave me a crystal clear understanding that if that racist hatred were given legitimacy it would lead to Fascism, persecution of the other and a resurgence of lynching.

The thing about Fascism or any other form of dictatorship is that it foments hatred and rewards it if it’s done in the name of the State.

I've known that from the day Trump rode down that escalator and made his now infamous wall speech - he lost me right there. And my years living in Romania (the Pan Flute is from Romania, not Peru or South America) after the fall of communism have sensitized me to the corruption and the authoritarian abuses of power that we now see in the Trump administration. You see, the 1989 fall of communism in Romania was not really a clean break with their communist past - the guys in charge under communism, after they had deposed the demented dictator Ceausescu as being a big PR liability, carefully rigged the new supposedly democratic and free market system to benefit themselves first and foremost, so they could retain comfortable positions of power and control. Those who could see this happening, and who wanted true democracy and a true free market system decried the deceptive tactics of the new nomenclatura (the big names under the old communist system) as being neocommunist. Anyway, it's been an uphill battle for Romania all the way, 17 years until they could finally be admitted to the EU in 2007, and even now, they struggle with corruption in high places. In recent years, I have seen Trump and the Republicans resorting to the same deceptive scams that I saw in Romania right after the fall of communism - believe me, I never thought I would see the day when it would happen here as well. Progress is never guaranteed, and should never be taken for granted. We may have turned a decisive corner with the midterms and the new Democratic congress, but we're not out of the woods yet, and it still could go either way from here, since our democratic institutions have been severely compromised, and will take time to fully restore and rebuild.
