(16,429 posts)Mueller just asked for a grand jury extension for 6 months. I think it happens this year, but there are 11 months left.

(39,343 posts)trump will have to let the government remain shutdown so that the shutdown will be the headline and not his russia.

(8,921 posts)Might be a little while.
Probably June or July before we see a report.

(39,343 posts)He doesn't have to go all 6, but can have it up to 6 months.
But like you're getting at, none of us have any idea

(383 posts)he can always impanel a new one. This counter-intelligence operation is far from over. Don't be surprised if it goes into next year. That is not to say Trump will last that long. He could be gone by mid-year. (2019) I'm guessing that Mueller will turn over many, many rocks before he's finished. Counter-intelligence operations leave no dangling threads.

(16,429 posts)But it could happen 11 months from now and still be this year. Dragging it into an election year would be a dream though. Even if Trump were gone the collateral damage to republicans would be massive.

(56,828 posts)had "inside sources" that the Mueller investigation was going to wrap up soon. It's still going.
In 2017, there were "inside sources" saying Jared Kushner was about to be indicted. We're now in 2019.
In 2018, we had several reports from "inside sources" that Roger Stone and Donald Trump Jr were about to be indicted. Heck, Stone was using his imminent indictment to raise money for his legal defense.
all of these inside sources were likely the Trump inner circle looking to discredit the investigation.

(37,748 posts)*If* the ABC report from this morning is accurate about Rosenstein on his way out
( https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142239580 )
AND *if* the above NBC report is accurate as well, one inference is that Mueller's report is just about ready and will be submitted in the two to three weeks time frame Rosenstein has for leaving. That being the case, the two independent stories would not invalidate each other

(31,011 posts)also leaves room for any other crimes that are uncovered after the fact, too.
It actually makes a lot of sense.

(5,271 posts)Rosenstein allegedly has said he will stay until after Barr is confirmed and takes office as AG for an orderly transition. That would be about 6 weeks since confirmation vote won't occur until mid-February (confirmation hearings start Jan 15th) The previous story indicated mid-February for target date of a Mueller report to be filed so the timelines do correlate.

(51,618 posts)Both Rosenstein's leaving and the timing of it as far as the president goes and as far as Mueller goes. It doesn't add up to him. He mentioned several reasons.

(51,618 posts)Of course he may still do it since he is cornered and acting more insane. Maybe if his AG nominee Barr isn't confirmed he will. Barr says he will let Mueller finish his investigation but who knows with these liars.

(52,283 posts)i am as anxious and eager as everyone else here to see all the damning information and indictments on donnie and his family and inner circle.
however, a "final" report due in about a month makes it much more likely that donnie and his family and his inner circle won't actually be indicted.
personally, i would rather see someone near donnie getting indicted each month or two throughout the year, culminating in an indictment of donnie himself toward the end of the year. that's the kind of time frame i think it would take.
so many criminals, so many crimes.
if mueller has enough to indict his inner circle and donnie himself next month, then i'll certainly celebrate.
but i'm beginning to worry about it becoming a bit of another "fitzmas"....

send the bill to reopen and they'll quickly override any veto.

Sealed indictments may make it a moot question, b ut Trump is desperate. He is willing to call a BS national Emergency just to distract from the probe.
