DC had allegedly thought about how to recall the comic, but "decided" to let it go, passing it off as a tribute.

… ACTION Comics #309. Feb, 1964 (on stands 26 Dec 1963). It was to late to do much about it... they had no time. Later, they stated they waned to release it as is, anyway, in tribute. RFK Jr. wrote a letter of praise to DC... I have it, but can't recall the issue #.
