Mexico finds 10-meter tunnel underneath U.S. border

Mexican authorities found a 10-meter-long tunnel underneath the U.S./Mexico border, police say.

The Federal Police of Mexico announced the discovery Jan. 9 on Twitter, along with a video showing the way into the tunnel. The entry was found in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico and the tunnel came out in Nogales, Arizona, which is south of Tucson.

They believe the tunnel might have been used for "illicit" acts, such as drug smuggling, although it is still under investigation.

The discovery comes as nearly 800,000 federal workers are furloughed or working for free following the United States' federal government shutdown amid President Donald Trump's demands for $5 billion to build a wall along the country's southern border.

A wall won't stop that but Trump wants his vanity project.
