My guess is if a new referendum is scheduled, the EU backs off and wait to see what happens. Blue_true Jan 2019 #16

Must be pissed, and trump will make a threatening remark when he starts up using tonight, or in the morning.

IDK how viable that is, but I suspect May might have to resign over this vote.

The PM job is a dead end job until Brexit is resolved. Even if May engineer a Stay referendum, she won't be PM for long after it passes. I would like to see her challenge the worms Farage or the blonde ex London Mayor to take her place and resolve the quagmire.

This lost by 220.

I wonder if Corbyn calls for a no-confidence vote?

Tomorrow's is a vote of the whole House of Commons.

Within the Tory Party, she can't be subjected to another no confidence vote for a year, not six months (assuming she survives as PM that long, of course).

for tomorrow. However, all the dissenting Tories asked so far (and probably all of them), and, crucially, the Northern Irish DUP (who voted against her Brexit plan) have already said they'll support her tomorrow, so it looks like she'll survive.

Which leaves things in chaos. They have about 70 days to magic up a deal that the EU would agree to (and they've already said they don't want major changes) AND that could get majority support in the Commons. No-one has the faintest idea what could do that. If nothing is agreed, it's a 'no deal' Brexit which ruins the Irish border and could cause all kinds of problems (airspace use, imports of medicines, huge delays at ports ...). A new referendum takes months to schedule and campaign for.

No Brexit or something else, the U.K. has issues. If voters turn around and vote to stay, Britain loses some of the EU autonomy that it once enjoyed.
