Democratic leaders reacted with fury and demanded an investigation late Thursday following a new report that President Trump personally directed his former attorney, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress about the president’s push for a lucrative condo project in Moscow in the lead-up to the 2016 election.

The Thursday night report from BuzzFeed News cites two unnamed federal law enforcement officials who say Cohen acknowledged in interviews with the office of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III that the president directed him to deceive Congress about key facts linking Trump to the proposed deal in Russia. Cohen pleaded guilty in November to lying under oath about those details.

Democrats said that if the report is accurate, Trump must quickly be held to account for his role in the perjury, with some raising the specter of impeachment.

“The allegation that the President of the United States may have suborned perjury before our committee in an effort to curtail the investigation and cover up his business dealings with Russia is among the most serious to date,” wrote Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. “We will do what’s necessary to find out if it’s true.”

I've cautioned everyone to keep your foot off the impeachment pedal because this Senate will never convict.

If this story is true and *proven,* I think there's no choice but to impeach the President of The United States for obstruction and subornation of perjury.

I thought Melania’s Parents were at the WH, too. All one big happy family.

But we never hear anything much lately about any of them and tRump mentions being alone in the WH frequently. Even during the holidays. Bet he was discussing his situation with portraits lining the hallways. Oh, to have had access to those one way conversations. Maybe this whole thing has sent him over the edge as he contemplates how to get out of the jam he is in. He has Putin breathing down his neck on the one hand and sees people like Cohen abandoning ship on the other. It must be truly maddening to not be able to control things the way he used to do. No one left to pay off or pay to do your dirty work.

This is going to make one hell of a book but being witness to it (at this stage) is enough to induce insomnia and a big stomach ache. I hope the breaking news of the past 24 hours is a signal things are almost boiling and will reveal a lot of answers. We need a break. Those of us news junkies are on overload and need some real answers, not just more speculation about what it all means.

I definitely need some shut eye before the morning gets here and the talking heads start chewing over last night’s bombshell.
