Anthony Cormier is an investigative reporter for BuzzFeed News and is based in New York. While working for the Tampa Bay Times, Cormier won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting.

S a slightly inaccurate statement that is a fraction of the article can easily be disputed without in any way saying that the substance of the article is incorrect.

they did not say it was untrue. Inaccurate is different from untrue and many analyses are taking it as the SC distancing itself without claiming they are not telling the truth.

I would think it could be just that they wish to vaguely indicate they are not the source for this story. It could be SDNY, as many are speculating, the source instead.

There are so many tentacles to this crime organization.

The wording I saw was "not precise", which is not the same as "inaccurate", which is not the same as "untrue".

Just to make things even less clear.

This idiot (Leopold) has done more in a single day to legitimize Trump's "fake news" assault upon our press than he himself has managed to achieve in over two years combined.
