2017. That was the same year he published his book "Promise me, Dad," so my guess is that he finally had some extra money from book sales. And yes, I think that his lakeside house was his main asset while Beau was dying, which was why he and Jill were considering selling it to help his young famliy.

a 7,000 s.f. lakefront house in Greenville, Delaware, and a beach house, near Rehoboth Beach, that he bought in 2017. I don't know what he paid for for either house, but in 2006 someone else paid $1.5 million for the beach house.

At their ages, and with their combined salaries over the decades, it's not surprising that he and Jill have some substantial assets by now.

https://www.delmarvanow.com/story/news/2017/06/09/rehoboth-beach-area-braces-biden-family/385124001/

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the longest-serving Delaware senator, and his wife, Jill, fulfilled a longtime dream by purchasing a vacation home at the Delaware seashore. Fittingly, their purchase is steps away from land Joe Biden helped return to federal status.

The Bidens will keep their primary home in Greenville, a spokeswoman told The News Journal.

SNIP

Sussex County property records show that the property, which last sold for $1.5 million in 2006, is owned by Diane Smith and Jayne Kettles of New Hope, Pennsylvania. The pair runs a recruitment software firm.

https://www.delawareonline.com/story/news/local/2018/10/24/unknown-if-joe-biden-among-democrat-leaders-who-received-suspicious-packages/1749509002/

This is not the first time county officers have worked with federal agents at Biden's 7,000-square-foot custom home, which sits on a private lake several hundred yards from Barley Mill Road.

W had to say something about "both sides". He also could have just sent the money to buy the pizzas, but he used this as a photo op.

This would be like me saying my ex-husband was so caring, loving and considerate because he bought me flowers once in the forty plus years of marriage. (That's not true but I made that up to give you a more relatable example of lowering the bar for decent behavior.)

All of these guys: Bush, Romney, even the Koch brothers.... let me amend that: all of these guys except the Trumps ... can do decent and generous things when they have a personal connection.

The problem arises when they can't do the decent thing if they're so much as a half-step removed from a personal connection.

Sat Jan 19, 2019, 10:43 AM

to feed to their workers is an insult rather than an admirable thing?

I just don't get it. I don't get it. Do the millionaires think that most people only eat junk? Maybe. But even if you think this, wouldn't you want to buy your workers a DECENT MEAL instead, even if it's something as simple as roast chicken or broiled steak, deliciously-prepared vegetables, a decent dessert, etc., if you're going to provide anything at all?

I realize Rump is an outlier in that he DOES eat crap every day and possibly thinks that's all anybody eats, but the Bushes? Really? I bet they didn't eat crap every day for regular meals.

And I agree with everyone who says that a true good deed is done without posing for a pic of your good deed.
