Buzzfeed or no Buzzfeed----Is there anyone here who really

believes that Trump didn't direct Cohen to lie?
I would be much more surprised if the opposite was true.
Of course it was irresponsible to publish the allegations without
due proof--but deep down I know it's true.
It'll all come out soon--perhaps even in Cohen's speech to Congress.

This smacks of the same kind of method of discrediting the truth with a false origin. I don't think it will work because Mueller has been able to have a leak proof operation and came out immediately to squash this report.

And some of Cohen's comments were public, yet no one on Trump's side corrected him.

I think Mueller are trying to thread a needle somewhat. In Cohen's sentencing memo, they themselves wrote, the following:

"Third, Cohen provided relevant and useful information concerning his contacts with persons connected to the White House during the 2017–2018 time period.

Fourth, Cohen described the circumstances of preparing and circulating his response to the congressional inquiries, while continuing to accept responsibility for the false statements contained within it."

These two paragraphs suggest, at a minimum, that "persons connected to the White House" (to use their phrase) knew of Cohen's false testimony (in advance) and did nothing to stop or correct it.

True that doesn't amount to the president, in particular, "directing" Cohen to lie. And "persons in the White House" may or may not involve the president.
Perhaps all that BuzzFeed got wrong though is exactly which person, if any, person in the Whitehouse "directed" Cohen. Perhaps it was somebody other than the president. And perhaps that person was directed by the president to direct Cohen. Or perhaps nobody explicitly directed cohen, but some person or other "knowingly permitted or acquiesced in Cohen's lying to Congress.

While those aren't exactly quibbles, they aren't flat out contradictions of Buzzfeed's reporting. And in fairness to Buzzfeed, the law enforcement sources that acted as their sources could be drawing the reasonable inference that Trump "suborned" perjury by knowingly and openly acquiescing in Cohen's admitted perjury, which as obviously committed on the president's behalf.

The Con paid his fixer to fix - whatever that meant on any given day. Both are criminals.
Where's that Con tweet attacking Cohen for ratting him out.
