I have no doubt my 2nd grade Catechism nun would have grabbed that smirking little creep and let him feel the full extent of her wrath. Sister was a tad ahead of her time and pounded the acts if mercy and social justice into our heads. I sometimes think she's the one who made me as liberal as I am.

We're there some preppy privileged assholes among the student body? Sure. But I think it was more a product of their economic status, peer pressure, parenting, and just being young & stupid, NOT because of their Catholic schooling.

One thing that is becoming an increasingly common factor in all these racists is that racism is learned and supported and encouraged by the community that they live in. It's a matter of hate begats hate.

To stop it, we have to take a look at the communities that support it. Just like talk radio, it starts at the lowest level and works its way up to the national level. To me this speaks volumes about the environment those kids grew up in.

If they are told that hate is wrong, that wouldn't stop them from doing it, but at the same time they would know that it is. But these kids most likely were never told they were wrong. They were probably encouraged by their parents, community, and church to hate people who weren't like them.

It is the least racist place I have ever lived in. The churches have been active in providing asylum and defending immigrants. We also have many recent Muslim immigrants and there is little problem with. I think the difference the culture. Many of the Churches were founded by eastern Europeans who were also ostracized. They are also an urban group, not a rich white, suburban bunch. There is also really only one Party, here and its Democratic Party.

I've been too aware of this movement for decades, as someone who had twelve years of Catholic schooling and their "pro-life" propaganda. They get in bed with racists and do and say nothing about it. All they care about are fetuses.

As someone who did attend a very liberal Catholic grammar school, I know how un-Christian this is, and it upset me deeply. This is not what I was taught. This is not what Jesus was about. These kids were never taught to see this man as a brother.

This is the Catholic Church's fault. All of these Catholic high schools care about is success and prestige. They want to boast about how successful their graduates are. They claim to teach values, and they turn their students into Klan members.
