WASHINGTON The U.S. Supreme Court took no action on Friday on the future of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. It now appears likely that the court will not take up the issue during its current term, which would require the government to keep the program going for at least ten more months.
So I hear trump is willing to make some kind of deal regarding DACA, I wonder if this has something to do with that. If he wants to extend DACA who long will it be PAST the ten months mentioned in the article?

(4,787 posts)They met yesterday morning (Friday). Much of the time, they will announce if any new cases had been accepted on that same conference day.
However, the entire set of orders from that meeting will be released on next Tuesday (since the court is closed on Monday for MLK Day). Occasionally, they will wait to announce that a new case has been accepted as part of the full set of orders.
On Tuesday, we'll learn if they even acted on this case, as well as on a number of other high profile cases that include gun control, gay rights, religion and abortion. These 5 cases were on the schedule for discussion for last Friday, but could have been rescheduled for a future conference, as has happened twice before. (This is the 3rd time that they were scheduled.) If they didn't act on them last week, the next conference won't be until 2/15. (The court is on a break from 1/23-2/14.)
Note that the article is only saying that the case would likely not be scheduled for argument this year, even if it is accepted in a future conference this year. That's because there are currently 19 cases that have been accepted but not yet given a date. There are only 12 more scheduled argument days open after February, although they do sometimes hear 2 cases a day.
