Seeing his presidency crippled by the separation of his base, after such a deal (or something like it) goes through. Ann Coulter is already saying that three year extensions of DACA and TPS is selling out the base.

If Trump resigns, you're stuck with Pence, and he's probably more electable in 2020. And if Pence takes over after tomorrow, theoretically, he can run for re-election TWICE.

I'd take the certainty of two years of a politically crippled Trump over a possible ten years of Mike Pence any day.
