(1,896 posts)Everyone I've ever known from either place has had a tremendous work ethic, a devotion to their family, and genuinely been wonderful people. The only thing which confuses me is why both places aren't absolute paradises, and my best guess is that they both export too many of their best people.

(1,896 posts)But that also tends to go along with exporting too many wonderful people. They should (from a country's perspective, anyway) be at home making their native land better.

(51,613 posts)being close to their family in order to make any amount of money to send back to them. Too bad for the Philippines especially since so many great medical professionals come from there originally as well as teachers. It is a real loss for their home countries.
