What are the odds of this? Tulsi Gabbard and Natalya Veselnitskaya hired the SAME PUBLICIST,

Chris Cooper, of the Potomac Square Group. Tulsi hired him in 2017 to try to discredit a reporter in Hawaii who was writing about her.

But Gabbard’s consultant, Chris Cooper of the Potomac Square Group, is no ordinary Russian agent. Cooper is allegedly one of seven identified as being at the center of illegal Russian lobbying efforts reaching into the Trump campaign and Congress.

Inquiries with Gabbard’s DC office last June by reporter Christine Gralow—then stringing an article for Honolulu Magazine--must have piqued the attentions of the numerous Hare Krishna cultists employed there. Within 24 hours a letter from Cooper, identifying himself as “a consultant to Rep. Tulsi Gabbard,” riddled with misspellings and inaccuracies, landed in the in-box of Honolulu Magazine’s editors.

It worked. Honolulu Magazine suddenly lost interest in Gralow’s articles – which she eventually published on her own website, www.MeanwhileinHawaii.org. And confirming its obsequience, on November 20, Honolulu Magazine characterized a Gabbard cult expose in the New Yorker as “another project in otherizing Gabbard’s faith journey.”

Gralow says she became aware of the Cooper letter in November when a source sent her a copy. She posted the letter on her website December 31, 2017. Cooper—who has not previously been publicly known to be tied to Gabbard—is one of seven people named by Hermitage Capital Management CEO William Browder in a July 15, 2016 memo to the US Department of Justice identifying unregistered agents working illegally in the US “under the direction/control/influence of the Russian Government.” The seven are seeking repeal of the now-famous 2012 Magnitsky Act signed into law by President Obama in response to the imprisonment and 2009 murder of Hermitage’s anti-corruption investigator, Sergei Magnitsky, by agents of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Curiously, this reporter also learned last month that D.C. publicist Chris Cooper of The Potomac Square Group was hired to write a letter on Rep. Gabbard’s behalf in July 2017 to a mainstream news editor here in Hawai'i. The apparent intent of the letter was to discredit this reporter and prevent this series from being published in Hawai'i's mainstream news media.

Incidentally, in 2016, the same Chris Cooper was hired by Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya’s Human Rights Accountability Global Initiative Foundation (HRAGIF) to promote a Russian docudrama aimed at reversing U.S. sanctions against Putin and his financial associates. Veselnitskaya and HRAGIF also happen to be at the heart of the U.S. Justice Department’s current Special Counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election.

While this may simply be a coincidence without nefarious connections, it seems an odd professional choice - considering recent questions about Rep. Gabbard's loyalties - to hire a publicist with such ties. Neither Rep. Gabbard nor Cooper responded to questions about the letter.

had dropped him from their FARA filing last summer.

The only FARA filing I saw with his company's name on it only mentioned Poland -- not Russia. Do you know if Natalyia V is Polish, rather than Russian?

I don't know where the official FARA site is, so I could have easily missed another FARA filing linking him to Russia, if there is one.

But then I remembered that Bill Browder had made that point -- that Cooper was one of the men on the list who weren't properly FARA registered.

So Cooper's liability in all this is still hanging out there.

It seems he knowingly worked for a Kremlin informant yet falied to register as a Russian agent. It was an obvious anti-Magnitsky, pro-Putin propaganda film that he accepted money to promote, after all. He's a PR sellout of the worst kind.

since Tulsi seems to want to emphasize her Hindu background, and to complain that her cult has been "otherized." Her leader Chris Butler is a "Hindu" like the Reverend Moon of the Unification Church was a "Christian." (And Moon, like Butler, was a rightwing authoritarian.)

The men all stated that they did not celebrate Diwali or identify as Hindu while growing up within SIF. Rather, they said, they practiced Butler’s unique interpretation of ISKCON tenets, combined with some Christian traditions.

"We did not identify at all as Hindus growing up in Butler's group," wrote Koviak, who attended the SIF boarding school in the Philippines for four and a half years. "That's a new thing that really fits in with the Tulsi agenda."

"We sang Christmas carols like you wouldn't believe," said another man, who attended Sen. Gabbard's Ponomauloa School. "So many Christmas carols."

The men are all of the same generation as Rep. Gabbard, and - like Rep. Gabbard - grew up with parents who followed Butler. One man provided class pictures of himself and other children wearing SIF uniforms at both the Philippines and Hawai'i schools. In the Hawai'i school photo, Carol Gabbard stands behind the female students on one side, and Sen. Gabbard stands behind the male students on the other side. Sen. Gabbard's official website still lists "Ponomauloa School, Wahiawa— Headmaster/teacher (7/83 to 6/87)" as professional experience.

Can't believe any serious person fell for that.

This was someone who refused to support the Hawaiian marriage equality bill in 2013.
Who in 2015 told Ozy her PERSONAL views on the matter hadn't changed, but she didn't think she should impose them on anyone else.

"...a letter from Cooper, identifying himself as 'a consultant to Rep. Tulsi Gabbard,' riddled with misspellings and inaccuracies........."

If he is a professional publicist in the USA, a letter from him in English will NOT be "riddled with misspellings and inaccuracies."

What was his birth name? Konstantin Kobolyev? I'm betting it was NOT "Chris Cooper."
