The fact that Trump hid this from the public means that he was susceptible to blackmail. That is a severe security risk and an impeachable offense.

(5,931 posts)One very plausible theory I've read is that Trump Tower Moscow was to be a huge sinkhole for laundering Russian mob money.
It appears that luxury condos in Trump properties have been used as a means of laundering money for the Russian mafia for years. The Russian oligarchs purchase luxury condos in Trump properties at prices far above market value, but no one ever actually occupies the condos.
This by itself is not proof that Donald Trump is complicit in money laundering schemes. It could easily be that the Trump Organization is simply glad to make the sale, and has no real knowledge as to whether they're being paid with ill-gotten gains.
But the sanctions against Russia would have put a real crimp on that practice. And the solution, or so the theory goes, was to build a Trump property in Russia, where of course the sanctions would not apply.
