I'm apalled over these little boys shameful behavior.

They should be expelled but knowing Kentucky.

When I was in Catholic school, every mass they prayed to end the war in Vietnam. The people who call themselves Catholic now would make St Francis weep.

If I have to choose who to believe about that incident in Washington to whom do I give credibility?

I will give a little background. I am a white woman who will all too soon be 70. I have lived in the south all my life. I dated a conscientious objector during Vietnam who did his community service. My brother has been a resident and then citizen of Canada since 1969 instead of fighting in a war he believed to be completely wrong. He would not become a CO since he knew he would have gone to WWII if he had been alive then.

So, if you ask to whom I give credence in their story I will freely admit. The Native American Vietnam veteran or the white boy in a MAGA hat is an easy choice. Mr. Phillips is believable, the young man shows me who he is in that hat.

So I was against the Vietnam war, but I respect and admire those who did not go and also those who served. The soldiers did not start the war and I respect those who chose to go and those who were forced. Life is pretty complicated and it is possible to understand it on many levels.

It's always been there. Beneath the scab, a wound that just wont heal. No matter how much we thought this country had evolved, we're no different in many circles. It became less and less appropriate in polite company, among the elites and it has always been so among the modern left. But the masses never changed. The southern strategy, built entirely of racism, still keeps most of the south ruby red. And it plays well in much off the midwest, rural and suburban mid-atlantic, the west, the central valley of California, and on and on.

LBJ still explains it best. Having also grown up in the same covert and overt racism in the south, I clearly see its sagacity.

As relayed by Bill Moyers......“I’ll tell you what’s at the bottom of it,” he said. “If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

No words ever spoken more clearly describe modern Americans. We've still got a hell off a lot to clean up in this country.

The Catholic Church is supposed to honor and serve the poor. I am guessing that this is one of those faux Catholic rich, white churches that are really just Southern Baptist churches with nuns and priests. And they probably all hate the current Pope, too, because he acts like a real Catholic.
