racist, and Covington Hitler Youth are racist. So what is the point our Covington Hitler Youth School graduate is trying to make? It is a mystery to me.

Seeing this video, and that this was a school sponsored "theme", and no adult - no administrator - no-one said... "hmmmm - let's put limits. All black clothes = the theme. Black face/black body paint = bad idea.

We had theme days and a spirit week, but put limits. Kids who crossed lines, had to change their outfits to comply (in this case - wash off the paint.)

For decades there has been backlash against students/schools around the issue of the inappropriateness of black face at parties and themes. Yes, I saw the pictures you posted earlier from Arizona State (playing, I think Missou - black and gold school), and U of Col (black and gold school) - and university enforcement is much less tenuous than what happens at a high school. I don't buy those as examples as an excuse for this high school. And I say that as one who sometimes had to call parents about infractions that needed to be corrected - and deal with all of the headaches that accompanied doing so.

To me, this says there is an atmosphere which is at best incredibly racially insensitive, at worst is inherently racist. And it is condoned, heck perhaps even encouraged as "school spirit."

I’m old enough and Southern enough to remember when this was done when predominantly black schools visited all white ones.

The meaning is clear.

Even if kids in ignorance attempted it today, their parents and administration would instantly know it is a problem and stop it in its tracks. Obviously this has the adults approval.

It would not be allowed nor attended in public schools in the south. But of course, this is not a public school.
