I hope those who have been demanding that federal workers strike and protest show up to support them.

(30,736 posts)wherever he goes. He should not be harmed or threatened. Just surround him. Make him know that anyone who is furloughed without pay is affected by this twenty-four hours a day. Let him feel the same pressure.

(51,589 posts)I think they did it twice in fact. After it was discovered that the children at the border were being taken from their parents. They cornered Mitch and his wife going to their car and his wife was like a pit bull defending him (he was silent). The GOP and some Dems said it is bad to corner them like that and gives the Dems a bad image and the GOP more ammo to use against us. I think it is a great idea. Go after them if they continue to run away and hide.

Sorry for the cynicism. I just get so tired of people yelping "general strike!" and "I would NEVER work for free!" without thinking about the work, sacrifice and pain that goes into collective action. Thanks for the heads-up. K&R.

Are you or someone you know Impacted by the shutdown? Are you using extra utilities because you're stuck at home because Mitch McConnell refuses to #CallTheVote?
If so, join Federal/DC employees, their unions, and other organizations to "Occupy Hart" and let your voice be heard.
Bring your friends and family. Our goal is fill the entire building with people and demand that Senate Republicans call the vote and #StopTheShutdown

(17,387 posts)You know that he is going to troll them and thank them for their support and promise them that he will not let them down and will hold out until he gets $5 billion for a wall. Fox News will probably cover the protests and pro-shutdown with hundreds of thousands of employees supporting Trump's shutdown and demanding a wall.

Trump lauds federal employees as 'great patriots,' promises to 'win big' on border wall
President Donald Trump, one month into the federal government shutdown, took to Twitter to thank federal employees who are working without pay.
The nation's 800,000 federal workers will miss their second paycheck this week. About half of them, however, are considered "essential" and are working anyway.
"To all of the great people who are working so hard for your Country and not getting paid I say, THANK YOU - YOU ARE GREAT PATRIOTS!" Trump tweeted late Sunday. "We must now work together, after decades of abuse, to finally fix the Humanitarian, Criminal & Drug Crisis at our Border. WE WILL WIN BIG!"
Not everyone scheduled to work is showing up, however. The Transportation Security Administration said Monday that its rate of unscheduled absences was creeping higher. About 10 percent of employees took unscheduled absences Saturday, up from 3 percent on the same date a year ago.
