If Justice Ginsburg were to leave the bench next year...

...during the last year of a Presidents term, does anyone
really think that Mitch McConnell would hold the seat open
for the next president to fill? What do you think his rationale
would be? "We can't assume that a sitting President won't
be re-elected. This is different than Obama who was a lame duck."

What he did in denying Merrick Garland a hearing was motivated by racism and his lack of integrity.

and proceed with confirmation hearings.. and the disturbing result will a Republican SCOTUS for decades.

He'll probably say something about how he decided to revisit his policy given the backlash in 2016. And then the Senate will vote, and we'll have a 6-3 conservative majority.
