Here is Joe Biden's reason for giving speech in MI and praising a GOP Rep.......

I do not question Joe for this.

..........A spokesperson for Biden said his speech was not intended as an endorsement of Upton, and stemmed instead from the congressman’s role in crafting a bipartisan bill aimed at accelerating cancer research. Biden’s son, Beau, died of cancer in 2015.

“It was one of the few bipartisan bills passed in an otherwise deeply divided and gridlocked Congress,” Biden’s spokesman, Bill Russo, said in response to the NYT report.

“Vice President Biden believes to his core that you can disagree politically on a lot and still work together in good faith on issues of common cause — like funding cancer research.”

...97% of the time I am absolutely against giving any praise to any GOPer. But this does not seem to be untoward or with ulterior motive at all.

Nothing wrong other than he chose to do this just a few weeks before the election. I realize that's when the event was, but the democratic leaders were begging him to do it some time after the election.

have all but buried the concept of legitimate disagreements. I don't want another attempt at giving the GOP our shirt so that they can wipe their asses with it. That will not work, and if Biden hasn't learned that lesson than he does not belong in the White House, however good a man he is.

The reason Upton was there was because the organization that held the event is closely affiliated with a charitable foundation created by his grandparents decades ago.

When people dig past the headlines, they find out that there was no "endorsement" of Upton, just respect for his work to pass that bill several years ago.
