The Dem motions are futile and they know it. His rationales are bullshit and he knows it.

This doesn't end until Mitch gets what he wants. He's not revealing his bottom line yet. Breaking the will of the Dem Congress might be the main goal.

One assumes he wants to push this next paycheck to the brink, at a minimum. Don't know if he cares about the SOTU. Probably just as well that no one hears from Red Don.

This is clearly tactical more than anything else; President Asshole & McConnell engineered this Crisis for the start of this Congress. Maximum Chaos from the start.

However this ends, the Dems will take a hit in the eyes of low-information "Independent" Voters.

That is still a minority. How and why do they have so much control? They are losing support among independents, former-non voters and even their base by the day. How does this translate to power when there are more people who are against them than for them?

who might not support his wall fear being primaried from the right if they go against him on this (or on anything). Republicans from purple states are terrified that this shutdown will cost them in the general election in 2020, but they still fear a primary from the right that could knock them out before the general election.

If the GOP senators as a group went after Mitch, they could force him to bring it up for a vote, but they won't do that. They all fear the base.

Now, of course they could go Independent and caucus with the Democrats, but they won't, because if they do lose their seat, they need to have a pure RW voting record if they want to get a cushy spot in the RW welfare universe.

They only have control because of the electoral college and gerrymandering.

I suspect you know that.

Elections have consequences and unfortunately 80,000 Americans in 3 states voted more for Trump than Hillary.

I sincerely think they will see the err of their ways in the next general election... As long as we run a good candidate.

Which is why we need to crack down even harder on them in the next election, because they will do it again. I would say a good third of Trump voters voted for him because they wanted "change", not because they are true believers. I know a lot of them and they can't stand him now.

If he barely won then, he isn't going to win 2020 without cheating and we have to make sure that doesn't happen.

McConnell is following after him.

You can use logic, but truth is McConnell has no spine and does whatever Trump tells him. You blame the ring leader, not the foot soldiers.

Who's going to defeat him in KY? Steve Beshear, the former Gov? He's 74 now, 76 on election day in 2020. Maybe his son, Andy Beshear - the AG?

I don't see McConnell as particularly vulnerable - he's been in office since 1984. Do you?

Len Blavatnik donated $3.5 million to Mitch McConnell's PAC from 2015 to 2017.

Ukrainian-born billionaire Len Blavatnik, who holds dual U.S.-U.K. citizenship, used to be a fairly run-of-the-mill campaign contributor, donating relatively modest amounts in a bipartisan fashion — and then the 2016 election cycle hit.

Beginning in 2015, Blavatnik lavished contributions on Republicans, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell alone on the receiving end of $3.5 million between 2015 and 2017.

Also on the list of Russian gifts are Rubio and Graham...........The more the Senator gives gloating statements on Trump, and the more they defend him, the more suspect they are to Russian Money for their campaigns....

good start.
Then they all demand a speedy trial.
Then when the charges get dismissed they all sue McConnell for malicious prosecution,
false arrest, abuse of process, violation of right to petition the government for redress
of grievances and the right to peaceably assemble, and etc.
And that would just be the Thursday group.
How about two thousand on Friday!
And so on and on and on and on and on day after day after day....

1 million arrestees per week would get McConnell's attention when counties have to pay.
