Chemo or rent. Someone had to make that decision today. #ShutdownA child is having a temper tantrum. He is holding his breath until you meet his demands. He is holding America hostage and will do so until we the people either kneel to him or take our last breath. Hard to believe a President of the United States has issued the death penalty on us all without judge or jury, his royal self said we should die.

(58,724 posts)How do we get Trump to end this?

(4,999 posts)Stick that campaign promise right in his face, and let the media publicize it too.
Trump can say he got his way. It is now Mexico that is the holdup.
Mexico is under no obligation to pay, there is just a regulatory mechanism for it to happen.

Anyhoo, she told me she has a son in OH. Wife, 5 kids. He's and FDA food inspector, now furloughed. She is appalled, not only for him and family but - no food inspectors?

(83,806 posts)This President has made it one. Shutdown.
Yes. we have healthcare issues that the GOP continues to take from Americans by destroying the only thing that is helping millions right now. That is Obamacare.
This President is taking jobs and pay checks away from hard working Americans out of petulance.

Mallory Lorge, who suffers from Type 1 diabetes, is forced to ration her insulin and look at her possessions to decide what she can sell to pay down her bills because she isnt receiving a paycheck during the record-long government shutdown.
Lorge, who lives in the small town of River Falls, Wisconsin, said she has two vials of insulin left in her fridge, but she is rationing them because she can no longer afford the $300 copay.
Her blood sugar rose to a high level last week, but she said she felt forced to ignore it. Instead, she went to bed.
When it gets that high you can go into diabetic ketoacidosis, you can go into a coma, she said. I cant afford to go to the ER. I cant afford anything. I just went to bed and hoped Id wake up.

(1,898 posts)While the shutdown does not impact me to the same extent, I own a small business which provides information technology training to federal employees, among others. Thus far, the shutdown has cost me in excess of $10,000, which I NEVER will recoup.

(7,541 posts)Long story short...horrific injury to arm...had to sell small business...phone was shut off yesterday, internet will be tomorrow...went in to start a temp job today, but the service screwed up my I-9 Citizenship Verification form (put my last name in for both first and last name) and now it can't be corrected until the shut down is over and DHS is running again. Thanks a whole bunch, life...
