Schwartz: Never seen Trump as flummoxed/outgunned as he is by Pelosi. Fun to watch.

Tweet from Tony Schwartz, the real author of Art of the Deal, this evening:

I have never seen Trump so utterly flummoxed and outgunned as he is by Nancy Pelosi. He seems both awed and cowed by her and it is turning her into a bigger powerhouse than she already was. Fun to watch.

you will see a haggard, beaten man. He has his fingers folded together in a pose, I think they say means you want to be pleasing. Not the defensive arms folded posture he usually adopts.

He's blaming her and the left-Democrats, but we expect him to push the blame onto someone else. Whether many people believe that is another story.

here is a interesting link on hands: http://westsidetoastmasters.com/resources/book_of_body_language/chap6.html

Clasping hands show anxiety and can mean you think you are losing the negotiation.

Pelosi keeps sending the blame back "return to sender." Trump is also just a smidgen hamstrung by his own boast that he and he alone was responsible for the shutdown.

The end game is really problematical, because Trump isn't going to get what he wants. The recurring question for Mr. Art of the Deal is why he couldn't have ended the shutdown sooner, since whatever he gets is on the table now, and has been since the beginning.
