is only going to get worse?
He conceded to forego the SOTU Address until after the shutdown is over. I now hear that he is prepared to take this shutdown to March and maybe even April.
The longer this shutdown extends - the worse the SOTU will be.
By the time he would deliver the SOTU Address - this government under his administration will be in shambles. He won't have any good numbers or accomplishments to tout.
He really needs to cut his losses now.

(45,493 posts)He didn't want to give the SOTU, so not being allowed to give it is probably a win win for him. More time for twitter.

(5,995 posts)A captive audience with the greatest backdrop he can imagine and no reporters shouting questions.
What a deluded, deranged clown. He must be Poundfoolish, Pennywise's idiot twin.

(24,416 posts)that he wants it to go until March or April! Is he serious? Are Republicans seriously thinking about going there with him? Federal employees are already straining and other things are starting to be affected. Federal Courts run out of money tomorrow. I know that Republicans could care less about some of these people but they seriously can't withstand the increasing political pressures of a partially shut down government for months and months on end. This all is uncharted- and frightening- territory to be in.

(23,251 posts)or thinks he wins. I honestly think he believes that the more people that suffer, and the greater their suffering, the more power he gains....and maybe the more likely he is to make a dictatorial power grab. It's the classic move of tyrants throughout history.

(6,044 posts)so facts do not matter to him.
He thinks he will never be convicted even if impeached and if investigations get closer to him him can always pardon those who might testify against him.
In the meantime he can do a lot of damage, maybe get payoffs later from oligarchs and businesses, and eventually maybe even get a good deal to leave office (no person time, fortune intact, presidential pension and perks of presidential retirement.
That's all he ever does, facts meaning nothing to him, and if things are worse, he will just make things up that "sound" good!

(11,885 posts)The more Republicans including him, will lose their election in 2020 , and lose control of the Senate and the Presidency, and lose a lot more in the House. They just thought the Mid terms was bad for them. Republicans are really looking stupid backing trump any longer, and some should switch to the Democrats party to turn over and take control now away from Mitch McConnell in the Senate, or this will only worsen for them.

(2,785 posts)instead of having it in the oval office is he planes on lying in his speech to make himself out to be some kind of hero after the shutdown ends regardless of what happens.

(19,074 posts)He doesn't understand anything about negotiations, you have to have a path forward that both sides will accept, he's not even close to that.
It's Trump and Mitch McConnel against the world on this, eventually the pressure from Republicans will cause Mitch to cave.

(801 posts)I've heard stories of slowing down the investigation, etc., etc., but I'm not sure that's it. Perhaps just another strategy to permanently weaken the working of the U.S. government for his real boss?
What other crap is he attempting to pull off right now since he has very little oversight? Unfortunately, we may never know until it's too late!
