This Is The Letter Unpaid Government Workers Are Being Given To Show Their CreditorsThe Department of Homeland Security has sent its unpaid employees a form letter to show to their creditors, explaining its workers may not be able to pay their bills because of the government shutdown.
The letter, essentially a plea for leniency, thanks creditors for patience and compassion toward employees and states that the situation is beyond their control.
The shutdown is now in its 24th day and has left hundreds of thousands of federal workers without a regular income. Most of the DHS 245,000 employees are classified as essential, meaning they must continue to work despite not receiving a paycheck.
The partial shutdown is now the longest in U.S. history as President Donald Trump refuses to give up on his demand for more than $5 billion to fund a border wall with Mexico a key campaign promise that he vowed Mexico would pay for.
You can read the complete letter, which most banks will probably ignore here:

(15,336 posts)If you're renting someone a home that you still need to make a mortgage payment on, how long are you going to be able to "float" people before you lose your shirt?
If you're a grocery store manager with a razor thin margin, how are you going to continue to extend credit before you have to start laying off your folks?
We ought not make the folks that aren't getting paid for the services they've rendered be turned into the enemy, whether it's the furloughed government employee, or the landlord or baker that is on the hook for a mortgage or supply bill.
There is only one fucking enemy in this shithole "Lockout" and that's Donnie Shit for Brains, the entire Retrumplican Party, and the hate-radio that controls them.

(15,235 posts)Can these paid hackers be investigated by unpaid essential personnel, who can and will be able to electronically obtain evidence on anyone, WHO MISREPRESENTS THEMSELVES AS ACTUAL MEMBERS @ D.U. What is a [b0001010011010]FISA Warrant? Is it able to link to the HIGHEST ECHELONS of U.S. Military, investigative and political crime-organizers, in important positions?

I don't have any federal workers as renters, but if I did, I would need to extend credit. Not fair or sustainable to pass the pain on through the economy. Sadly, many folks do not have sufficient savings to weather the shut down.
Federal workers are running out of patience. A strike should be expected soon...and NOT condemned.
The arrogant assumption by Wilbur Ross and others that all families have a safety net is false and naive.
