Just heard msnbc; willie geist; mitch was against shutdown

I was driving, but Willie said mcturtle said, paraphrased, "the shutdown was not my idea. I never like shutdowns."

So, the real question is, if the GOP will turn on the gangster, what else will they finally break from?

Typically, when the house of cards starts to fall, it's avalanche time.....

orders from the Trump administration to keep the government closed.

He never worked to override any trump veto to open the government on legislation that was passed by the Senate and House which included republicans.

No, if he was against, he would have fought to override any veto.

He refused to even bring anything related to this up for a vote for the over 3 weeks that have passed in the NEW session of Congress (116th).

Bill after bill after bill were sent to him from the House to schedule and HE refused to even put any of them on the calendar for an up or down vote, basically claiming some bullshit about "well the President won't sign it so I won't bother".

I posted yesterday that their god (who they threw under the bus) Ronald Reagan, vetoed 78 bills during his 2 terms. THAT is what the process is supposed to be - bring the matter up for debate and vote and if it passes both chambers, send it to the President to either approve and sign, disapprove and veto (and during an active session the option is there to not sign, which allows it to become law without signature after 10 days or not sign during the end of a session and it is pocket-vetoed).

Mitch held a lunch with his crew yesterday, and there was yelling and finger-pointing, and the fingers were being pointed at the turtle:

he could tell his caucus to pass what they passed in December and they could revisit it after February 8.

Sure, some might rebel, but I bet he could get at least half the GOP senate to vote for the bill to make it veto proof

he's neck deep in this one and didn't seem to be bothered by others in the past.

Oh, wait, he's a giant liar and will say anything in an attempt to look, well, not good, but less horrific than he actually is.

Whether he wanted it or not, he's been complicit in keeping it going. It could have ended in five seconds on January 3 if he had the Senate vote on the same bill they voted unanimously on in December but that's not what he did- in fact, he didn't allow a vote on ANYTHING for THREE whole weeks and couldn't be found unless it was to hold a vote on sanctions relief on Russian businessmen. Sorry. No sale here. #complicit
