Brennan: Stone Indictment Shows Effort to Swing Election 'May Have Gone to the Very Top'...

Brennan: Stone Indictment Shows Effort to Swing Election ‘May Have Gone to the Very Top’ of Trump Campaign

by Ken Meyer | Jan 25th, 2019, 9:26 am

Former CIA director John Brennan says the indictment of Roger Stone seems to suggest that the top echelons of the Trump 2016 Campaign were aware of Russia’s effort to swing the election.

Brennan joined Morning Joe on Friday to break down Stone’s arrest for charges of obstruction, making false statements and witness tampering. Brennan started things off by saying the arrest wasn’t a surprise to anyone, including Stone, because he “has an established track record of being unethical and unprincipled and this is catching up to him.” Brennan said the Stone indictment corroborates what he saw in the FBI regarding Russia’s connection to WikiLeaks, and he also predicted that further indictments will come from Mueller down the line.

“To me, all these indictments are going to be basically the compendium of the Robert Mueller investigation…I expect there to be a significant number, and a significant number of names that are going to be quite familiar to the average American.”

As the conversation moved towards the part of Stone’s indictment that says a “senior Trump Campaign official” was directed to contact Stone for information from WikiLeaks, Brennan said Team Trump isn’t “concerned about the reality of facts,” so he expects they’ll deny everything.

When asked what sort of story Mueller is trying to tell so far, Brennan answered “there was an extensive effort to try to influence the outcome of the election that involved the Russians, that involved U.S. persons, and that may have gone to the very top of the Trump campaign.”

“I think the shoes that are yet to drop are going to be the ones that are going to be the most profound and that will hit the people at the top of the organization.”

old news and rather redundant given the indictment's accusations of complicity among "ones" at the top.

We're still waiting for Trump to be fingered. On the plus side, it's becoming increasingly impossible to believe the pathologically incompetent leader of this gang of extremely incompetent criminals could have maintained deniability.

He doesn't have it with Brennan. Or with Frank Figliuzzi, former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence, said the whole pattern is pointing to the very worst being true.

Mueller is going after the small fry first then to choke the head of the serpent next. He is just squeezing the shit out of them.

the intense silence (by everyone but Trump and associated circles) about what's been uncovered. He said he believes that in itself suggests it's huge. Telling America the President was a traitor, and others high up in government, appointed and elected, were knowingly complicit (at least, as there may be other direct Russian assets), would certainly be.

That's how Mueller built cases against organized crime figures in the past - start at the bottom and squeeze them to get them to turn on the next layer of criminal and then squeeze that next layer until you get to the top, like building a pyramid - the George Papadapolous and Alex Van Der Zwann (sp?) and the Russian agencies are the bottom layer.
