For those interested in tracking the flight delays, this is a great resource

https://flightaware.com/live/airport/delays

Hartsfield-Jackson Intl (KATL) is currently experiencing departure delays of 46 minutes to 1 hours (and increasing) due to taxiway congestion.
Newark Liberty Intl (KEWR) is currently experiencing:

inbound flights delayed at their origin an average of 1 hours 1 minutes due to wind
departure delays of 1 hours 16 minutes to 1 hours 30 minutes (and increasing) due to an air traffic management program

LaGuardia (KLGA) is currently experiencing:

inbound flights delayed at their origin an average of 1 hours 26 minutes
arrival delays for airborne aircraft an average of 46 minutes
departure delays an average of 42 minutes

Orlando Intl (KMCO) is currently experiencing departure delays of 16 minutes to 30 minutes (and increasing) due to an air traffic management program.
Miami Intl (KMIA) is currently experiencing departure delays of 16 minutes to 30 minutes (and increasing) due to taxiway congestion.
Chicago O'Hare Intl (KORD) is currently experiencing departure delays of 16 minutes to 30 minutes (and increasing) due to taxiway congestion.

The pilots on DU can tell you about reasons for taxiway congestion, but my guess is it's most likely related to the stress and staffing of ATC unless there is a weather situation.

I have been saying for a long time that this shutdown would be over instantly if ATC and TSA would walk off the job.

It's really helpful to be able to track the incoming flight for the one you are going to take. Gives you an idea if you might be up against a delay long before your airline will tell you.

I believe they only pay if the delay is their fault.

Of course, the airline CEOs probably all vited for Trump. So it is their fault.

I use it when I’m traveling to see where my flights are in the pipeline. If I have to pick someone up at our local airport, I can check to see how far away the incoming flight is. I live less than 10 minutes from the airport so I can time my arrival so I am not hanging around waiting a long time.

The planes all have to line up to get de-iced just before take-off. This happened to us flying out of O'Hare last week (it's 3 degrees here right now, with -13 windchill), but despite the brief (10-15 minute delay, plus some more on the runway), our flight arrived not just on time but a tad early. Our outbound flight from SFO also had a brief delay, but with the amazing winds, we literally "flew" back.

I have to say, I was anticipating long delays at TSA and with traffic control (and stupidly came an hour-and-a-half earlier than normal to each airport just in case), but everything was totally copasetic. I thanked the agents for being there, and then had to wait around the airport for way too long.

These workers take their jobs seriously, and I feel enormously for them and their families. But I thank them profusely for helping the rest of us out. They're (reluctant) heroes.
