I assume Dems did this in 2012 and 1996 and Reps did it in 2004, 1992 and 1984?

Seems reasonable in some sense, even if it is a powerplay in this case.

Mostly crank candidates- LaRouche and that caliber. But we did NOT cancel primaries. This is not normal procedure.

No primaries have been cancelled. Just fake internet posts. The DNC backed Clinton in 1996 and Obama in 2012. So what?

With this move, they're effectively handing us the 2020 election, gift-wrapped with a pretty bow on top.

and have definitely regretted my misplaced glee. It has made me guy shy, and the PTSD it left me with doesn't want even a 1% chance 2020 could go wrong.

I'm frightened by the prospect of even more cheating than we had in 2016.

I'd rather have a general election without him in it. Let the Republicans explain to him he won't be President again ...

They will be stuck running a man who by the time 2020 rolls around will be hated by a majority of Americans. Nowhere to run nowhere to hide.

Splitting his votes, as Trump threatened to if he didn't get the nomination.

Also a gamble for the Democrats, but it would be sweet to see him focus his rage on someone peripheral.

Then again, these are the same treasonous wretches that cheered scrotus when he said he'd like to be president for life.

He appointed the RNC Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel and the rest of the people aren't going to undercut her leadership. This move shouldn't come as a big surprise.

Nothing has been cancelled. The RNC is backing an incumbent president. Wow, that is major news! When the DNC backed Obama in 2012 and Clinton in 1996 did people say the primaries were cancelled?
