when it was 2 candidates, it was easier for the bots and trolls to divide us. I definitely noticed a lot of stuff on social media from known republicans and conservative sources spreading inflammatory memes and misinformation about our candidates.

Maybe "progressives and mainstream Dems".

His text seems to state that progressives are Not Dems.
