Apparently The Key To Preventing Future Shutdowns Rests With TSA Screeners At Reagan Airport?

Well that's SIMPLE then, isn't it? According to this Washington Post article, the only time Republican Senators felt inconvenienced by the shutdown was when they tried to travel back and forth through the f--king AIRPORT.

EASY SOLUTION! Next time there's a stupid government shutdown (aka Republican temper tantrum), all the TSA screeners at Reagan and Dulles Airports have to do is call in sick. Ditto for the air traffic controllers. Get enough screeners, customs officers, and air traffic controllers calling in sick to force a shut down of Dulles and Reagan Airports....AND THE GOVERNMENT WILL RE-OPEN!

I hope you TSA people are paying attention. The future of these stupid shutdowns is in your hands from now on.

"some Republican senators said they “never really felt the urgency” of the funding lapse, except perhaps when they were going through airport security. "

Their sick-out actually delayed flights at LaGuardia, which was probably the first actual inconvenience any senatorial types had experienced. They get to skip the TSA theatre, after all.

There is no TSA theatre in general aviation; in fact, there is really no security AT ALL. And when they do fly commercial I would be seriously surprised to hear that they have to take off their shoes like the rest of us.

I once was delayed for TWO DAYS at LAX due to plane unavailability.

Fortunately, I was planning on vacation time before a conference.

But what of those who needed to appear Right Now at a conference, a deathbed, or whatever??

I may be speculating that some of you in the words of CSNY:

And you, of tender years,

I could not attend a deathbed because of 9/11.

Please think about everyone else, not just the Congresscritters and their bankrollers.

I didn't notice any problems, but that may have just been the odd times I was flying. Monday afternoon at 3:30 PM is slow at just about ANY airport.

Though I usually fly into National (those of us who grew up there NEVER call it "Reagan&quot when I fly up from Dallas, when Virgin America got eaten up by Alaska Airlines, they dropped their Love Field-National Airport route, and I was forced to fly American out of DFW.
