Another DUer made a great suggestion: Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State

I think that is an idea that deserves our attention and support.

1. She is respected on the world stage

2. She has a mastery of international affairs

3. She was outstanding at the job previously

4. She deserves a prominent place in the next Democratic administration

5. And to quote the DUer who made the suggestion: "She would whip this world back into shape in no time."

Props to DU-er Squinch for the idea!

as suptuagenarian myself, I totally respect her retirement. While the mind may still still feel like the 35, the body gets tired. The knees, hips, and back hurt. So much of what seemed important in youth seems like such a bother now. Let the younger people shine now.

Hillary did all she could to steer the country away from trump. Called him Putin's puppet to his face. Called out his bigotry and the calamity of his true believers.

Not enough of us had her back. Could barely hold their noses.

She does enough. I want her to be President, but I would not want to run her through that ugly gauntlet again. She's dealt with that shit long enough.

but I don't see why Clinton should constrain herself by working at a jobber which she is probably overqualified.

She already has done that

Better we choose a candidate with strong foreign policy expertise.

Putin succeeded in preventing Clinton from taking office. She would have been formidable in opposing Putin's world domination dream.

We need to come to terms with the fact that Putin won the 2016 election and installed a puppet -just aa the USSR was able to do throughout eastern Europe after World War II.

I suspect she will prefer the role of elder stateswoman, commenting as necessary and also helping to guide the new generation of Democrats.

I am still amazed at how we, as Democrats, have let the the forces of fascism and totalitarianism (left and right) attack the incredible candidates we have fielded-from Gore, to Kerry, to H. Clinton.

I think Clinton is continuing her work and there is no point in her tucking herself into a Democratic administration which will undoubtedly be headed by someone less prepared to lead than she is.

The fact is that our presidency is now a less powerful force in the world than it was when she was elected but denied the office.

Most if not all of candidates announcing do not have Clinton's global vision or expertise in foreign affairs.

Non-governmental organizations with global reach are increasingly going to be power centers, and Clinton's vision and influence is continuing.

enact most of the extremely progressive platforms both will have run on. SecState is going to have a huge task rebuilding our part in a stable world order, and she might do well there.

But she's always had a passion for women's and children's issues, especially. And as a woman I do not see Health and Human Services, Labor, Housing and Urban Development, or Energy as lesser posts. They are all hugely important to our wellbeing and all now in crisis, and she'd be great at using the opportunities that presents to rebuild updated and better than ever before.

Elizabeth Warren as SecTreasury, hanging the new uber-wealthy classes up to bleed out with the help of Democrats like Nancy Pelosi in congress who also believe "we can have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few or we can have democracy, but we can't have both."

monarchy like our friends "across the pond" in GB. She might not have as much power as I would like but she could wear really cool clothes and HATS! Just imagine the HATS! And Bill, I mean, he would so like the sitch and would do us proud as the prince or whatever they call those dudes. I guess I'm just "dreaming" but WOW! Wouldn't that be great!!!!!!!!
