The SOTU is a HUGE bargaining chip and the one thing the Republican egomaniac wants most.
I hope Pelosi at least delays it until the three weeks pass. It will be an embarrassment and a wake up call for all Republicans.

OMG! Can you imagine where we'd be now if the "Never-Nancy" folks had gotten their way?? Amazing to think about how some wanted to choose someone else to be Speaker. There was so much hand-wringing about wanting "new blood" or "someone younger" ... and how it was time to "hand over" control to a new generation because the "old folks" already had their chance. Basically they wanted change for the sake of change. What a short-sighted mistake that would have been! Especially NOW.
That entire group has gone completely silent. But I love how Nancy Pelosi is showing them a thing or two, too.

It's another trap Nancy is setting for him.

(12,585 posts)Nothing in the Constitution says the SOTU has to be broadcast, so she can order CSPAN to turn off its cameras and still meet the requirement for an annual report by the president to Congress.
It would be more fun, however, to turn off his teleprompter and microphone and see how he reacts.

(8,922 posts)which she will surely use as LEVERAGE.
The open question is how will she elect to use that leverage. She could use it to get a great deal that Republicans hate, or she could use it to permanently deny him the forum he so desperately wants to use for a prime time nationally televised liefest.
It's going to be very interesting watching her tease him with it and how it plays out.

In their earlier interview/chat, she was professional, using terms like 'Mr. President' while Trump used their first names.
