People Who Use More Emojis Have More Sex

http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-unexpected-things-that-boost-your-sex-life/

In what will likely be the most baffling link to sexuality you hear all day, "54% of emoji users had sex in 2014 compared to 31% of singles who did not." That's not an insignificant difference, guys. The survey was conducted by Match.com, which found that the more emojis people used, the more sex they had.

Coming from an artist means a lot. A couple years ago I started taking oil painting lessons and am enjoying it immensely. What kind of art do you do?

Haha. I've done some illustration in gouache, then watercolor. I moved to painting in oil, and studied portrait painting for a while. I really enjoyed it, but eventually moved to abstract painting. Now I'm torn between oils and acrylics, but still doing abstract work. It's really fun. Difficult ... but all creative work is.

What about you? What kind of work do you do?

I started taking oil painting lessons a couple of years ago after retiring and I’m enjoying it immensely. I have come to realize I have about 25% talent and 75% stickedtoitness! I just keep reworking paintings until they get better! I have tried a couple people portraits but they were only so-so. after going to the National Portrait Gallery I got super motivated. Not too long ago when my sister’s beloved dog passed I painted his portrait and she loved it. After that I started painting all my friends’cats. I seem to do better with animals than people. I would send you a couple pics but haven’t mastered how to do that in DU direct messaging or posting. I would like to start taking commissions at some point for pet portraits but I am so slow (and require regular critiques from my teacher) that the portraits will cost far more than I could sell them for 😬

Funny you mentioned you moved to abstract painting as that is all I collected for many, many years. I have since added some still lifes but I still love abstracts best. Frankenthaler and Sam Francis are two of my favorites.

but do people now really have so much less sex than we did in the 70s? I was kind of a nerdy asshole back then and I still managed to have a decent sex life.

I can't count the number of times I've told younger people that I don't speak emoji

(I get a few of the basics - smile, wink, pile of shit, etc, but not all the variations... especially when you can't hover over one to get the meaning on your phone)

If I were to guess, I'd say this correlation is because emoji users slant younger than the general population.

ETA: Similarly, grade school students with larger feet are better readers. That's because 6th graders are better readers than first graders and have larger feet. Correlation is not causation.

I always appreciate a good emoji, but when texting with a friend or chatting on FB, I prefer words instead of pictures of peaches and aubergines.
