CNN’s New Day Mocks Hannity and Pirro Over Trump Cave Coverage: You Can Tell ‘Who Still Wants to Go to Mar-a-Lago’

CNN’s New Day had a laugh on Monday morning as they discussed how President Trump‘s most vocal supporters can’t seem to reach consensus on whether he caved to Democrats on the government shutdown.

While some factions of Trump’s base think he lost on the shutdown by failing to secure federal funds for a border wall, others are trying to argue that the president made a strategic decision and did not actually give up the fight. As New Day reviewed the attempts to defend Trump from Fox News’ Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro, the panel was amused by the effort more than anything.

“You can tell very clearly from this who still wants to go to Mar-a-Lago,” said Alisyn Camerota.

“Seriously. You stop pick on my friend Donald,” John Avlon sarcastically responded. “It’s a Fabian retreat, damn it.”

Even though Joe Lockhart acknowledged the disappointment of Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs, he determined that Pirro and Hannity will stick with Trump forever because their viewers demand it. As for how Trump will react to his base’s divergence, Washington Post‘s Toluse Olorunnipa guessed Trump will pay attention to all of this since its highly relevant to his chances of getting re-elected in 2020.
